During this time, I have helped 3 different government clients in improving both their external and internal sites. A goal that all of them had in common was to eventually modernize their sites and system. Even though there are certain limitations on the federal side, pushing for modern designs has slowly but surely been moving forward. Although there has been a handful of smaller updates that have been made, below are few larger projects I want to showcase.

Reflection/Next Steps
One thing I appreciate with the federal projects that I’ve been a part of is modernization. I’d say all the clients have aimed for a modern look on their sites. It’s kind of appalling as well to see that some sites haven’t been updated in 10 to 20 years. Even though there are more limitations on design feasibility, I’ve learned to push and use the tools available to still move forward in modernizing and improving the user experience. Also, the target users can range pretty wide so accessibility has been a huge factor in making almost all the design decisions. There are a lot to consider on the federal side, at least in my experience.
Next steps will include:
Continue to support development
Update and iterate
Aim to do more usability testing with target users
